Review Rules

Welcome to the review guidelines, where I aim to provide insight into how I approach and present fragrance reviews on this site. My goal is to offer an honest, personal, and engaging perspective on fragrances fostering a sense of curiosity and appreciation for this wonderfully subjective art form.

Our Approach to Reviews

  • Honesty First: All reviews reflect our genuine thoughts and experiences. While we may use creative language to evoke the mood or story of a fragrance, our aim is always to provide readers with our truthful perspective.

  • The Subjectivity of Scent: Fragrance is deeply personal, and two people may interpret the same scent entirely differently. That’s the beauty of it! If we smell something you don’t, or vice versa, it doesn’t mean anyone is wrong, our experiences simply differ, and that’s what makes exploring scent such a rich arena.

On "Dupes" and Inspired Fragrances

  • Reviewing on Their Own Merit: When we review a fragrance that is a "dupe" or inspired by another, we evaluate it as a standalone product. Unless we’re specifically comparing it to the original in a dedicated piece, we may not reference its status as a copy. This ensures every fragrance gets a fair and unbiased assessment.

Transparency

We believe in being fully transparent about the materials we review. For every review, we will clearly state:

  • Whether the item was gifted, purchased, or provided as part PR or marketing materials.

  • The format of the item reviewed, whether it’s a full bottle, sample, or another form.

This transparency helps you understand the context of our experience with the fragrance.

Equally if we include affiliate links or discount codes I will note outright where / if commission is being sought, offered, or received.

Final Thoughts

Our reviews are not just about evaluating a fragrance, they are about sharing the joy, intrigue, and occasional surprises that come with exploring the world of scent. Whether you agree or disagree with my view, I hope to inspire you to experience and interpret fragrances in your own way.
